A great location for beach weddings

We're often asked, "where's the best place to have my beach wedding?".  That's a tough question because all the beaches here are beautiful.  Each beach town offers something different.  Do you want high energy fun?  Panama City Beach might be the place for you!  Do you want a laid back, old forida feel?  Mexico Beach it is!  How about an affluent family vibe?  Destin just might fit the bill!  Navarre offers a slow, off-the-beaten-path feeling.  Pensacola Beach reminds you of the 50's at the beach!  They even have a ferris wheel right in the middle of the fun!

Whichever you prefer, we at Sunset Beach Weddings can perform your wedding right on your beach!  We'll also provide you our vendor list for ideas on places to stay for your destination beach wedding once you book with us.  Give us a call to discuss dates, beach towns, and more!

A Tip (Steps to take to plan a Florida Destination Beach Wedding)

Last winter, we wrote a blog article that explained the process we recommend for planning a beach wedding.  We've found that our couples know they want to have a beach wedding, but aren't always sure how to get started.  Sometimes you feel like you're planning in a circle!  So we've re-posted this article, hopefully it will help you when planning your Florida Destination Beach Wedding!

Deciding to get married at the beach is an easy decision, but you might ask, "what do I do then?"  We here at Sunset Beach Weddings believe that if you follow these simple steps you'll plan your wedding and eliminate some stress during the process.

1. You're engaged!  You want to have a beach wedding!  First step, PICK YOUR DATE!

Choosing your date is the first step, this may include a date range.  When you call wedding companies and beach rental companies, they'll ask you this.

2. Book a wedding company for your date!

Take care to find a wedding company that fits your needs and makes you feel comfortable with your decision.  This can include your officiant, photographer, decoration, and coordination.  Don't worry about location quite yet, most wedding companies will handle all the regions here in the panhandle of Florida.  If your package includes photography, look through their photographs on the company's website.  You'll want to see many examples of their work.  Not just a few of their best photos.

3. Choose a place to stay!  Pick the beach area you want to be in and your Lodging!

Do you want to stay on the beach?  In a beach house?  Condo?  Hotel?  Where do you think your guests will want to stay?  Most wedding companies will also give you a local vendor list that can help you find your lodging.  You can also use this list to suggest places to stay for your guests.  There are many many options for lodging here, so don't get overwhelmed and feel like you just have to have a certain place, keep looking, you'll find one that fits your budget and plans.  Ask for a discount, many will offer if they know you're ready to book and have other options as well.

4. Choose your Ceremony location!

Depending on where you're staying, you'll want your ceremony as close as possible.  We will help you choose the location using our knowledge and experience.  But knowing your location will make this much easier.

5.  Decide what you'd like to do after your ceremony.

Do you want a classic reception?  Do you want to go to dinner?  Have a party?  Many couples have receptions right where you're staying as well.  Rented a big beach house?  Have your reception right there!  Have your reception at a local restaurant.  Want to hire a caterer?  Many options at this point, but they'll want to know what your date is!  The vendor list comes in very handy for making this decision as well.  If hosting your own reception, do you want to cater or do-it-yourself?  No wrong answer here for your wedding reception.  The valuable vendor list will give you lots of ideas for catering as well.

6.  Done

Other than small details you've planned your wedding!  These decisions don't have to be made on the same day, follow these tips and your planning will be much less stressful!

Engagement Season is Here!

Happy Engagement Season!  Many of our couples get engaged during the Holiday Season!  Glamour Magazine writes:

"Engagement Season (aka, "The Most Wonderful Time of the Year") starts on Thanksgiving and ends on Valentine's Day, and marks the time of year when the most guys get down on one knee.  Are any of YOU expecting a proposal this engagement season? Have there been clues? Girls who are already engaged, did your proposal happen during engagement season?"

The holidays are a perfect time to plan your beach wedding in Destin, Panama City Beach, Pensacola Beach or any other beach here on the Emerald Coast of Florida!  We perform weddings all year round, but the end of April to the end of July are very popular and we're already booking for these dates.  We love answering questions about your beach wedding, so give us a call!

Flower Girl Basket Crackers

We're in the wedding off-season, so we're back at telling interesting anecdotes and giving tips for your wedding here on our blog!  Check us out each week for a new tip or story!

We love flower girls and the cute things they do during weddings.  Recently, we were able to add this story to the list.

It was a lovely November afternoon, and the processionals had begun.  Bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down the aisle and stood waiting.  The maid of honor made her entrance and took her place.  Next were the ring bearer and flower girl, brother and sister, children of the maid of honor.  The ring bearer, not quite two years old, ran down the aisle to his mom as fast as he could go.  His 4 year old sister, the flower girl, stood watching him before reaching into her basket to throw some rose petals.  Instead of petals, however, she pulled out a bag of crackers apparently meant to keep her little brother quiet during the ceremony.  She held them up waiting for someone to take them so she could do the job she was meant to.  Eventually, rose petals, not crackers, covered the aisle before the bride appeared.

The wedding ceremony was beautiful.  Watching from the front row, the ring bearer sat in his aunt's lap, happily munching on crackers.
